MAY CLOSE MANY PARIS BUSINESS PLACES (Rec. January 22, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, January 22. There is a possibility of many business places in the Montmartre district being closed in the event of the Government not reducing the luxury tax of 38 per cent, on restaurants and cabarets. The almost entire absence of foreign visitors lias caused heavy losses and proprietors have passed a resolution, that if the tax is not reduced by Wednesday the establishments will be closed in a fortnight as a protest.
