PROTEST ’TO G OVERNMENT. Palmerston North, January 21. In order to discuss the report of the River Commission and to organise a deputation to wait on the Minister to protest against the allocations and proposed Government expenditure, a mass meeting of ratepayers and local bodies was held to-night, under the auspices ot the Manawatu Ratepayers Association. After full discussion, it was agreed to enter a protest against the allocation, and also to request the Government to repeal tho legislation providing lor such allocations.
