ADVENTISTS’ CAMP

MEETING AT LOWER. HUTT, j At the Seventh Day Adventist camp meeting at Lower Hutt, a busy day was spent yesterday. At 6.30 a.m. a devotional meeting for the adults was conducted by Pastor A. W. Anderson, and at the same hour, Pastor A. H. PiP er Iqd a young people’s meeting in another large pavilion. At, 10 a.m., the second session ot the conference commenced, ,at which the report of the nominating committee was presented. This report was tabled for consideration at the afternoon/ session. The report of the Sabbath school department, which was presented by Mr. J. Hookings, revealed that during the vear ending September 30, 1926, the sum of X 1935 19s. 3d. had been contributed for foreign mission work by the 36 Sabbath schools in the North Island. The report of the young people’s missionary volunteer department was presented by Mr. C. S. Palmer. The total contributions for missions for the year from the 22 young people’s, societies within the conference amounted to X'523 7s. 9d. At the afternoon session, the report of the nominating committee was accepted by the delegates. Pastor W. M. R. Scragg was re-elected as president for the ensuing year, and Mr. P. G. Foster was reappointed as secretary, and Miss R. Dray as treasurer. In the evening Pastor A. W. Anderson, of .Sydney, delivered an address to a large' congregation, his subject being “Some Stupendous Events Associated with the Second Coming of Christ.” Some people, said the speaker, imagined that Christ would come at a time of universal peace, but the Bible declared He would return at a time of universal war, and when earthquakes and. great volcanic eruptions were rending the earth’s crust, destroying the cities .and filling the hearts of men and women with consternation. But amid unprecedented displays of natural forces, the speaker said, the Bible taught that God would keep His people safely "though the earth should be removed and the mountains carried into the midst of the sea."
