MR. J. ELLIOTT A CANDIDATE UOM’NI ■■•('TAT. Auckland, December 27. A ballot, under the preferential voting system, is to be taken in February among members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants for the election of president of the organisation. ‘ A largely signed requisition has been presented to Mr. J. Elliott, of Newmarket Workshops, asking him to contest the position, and he has consented to stand. Dlr. Elliott is the North Island representative on the ailway Executive Council, and representative on the Railway Appeal Board. He has been elected as conference delegate without a break since 1918, and at the recent election gained the dual position of conference delegate for the northern districts ot the North Island, and sole representative of the locomotive workshops for the North Island for the next two years.
