Miss Rvalue Royle, after a long stay in Australia, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Bert Royle, of Palmer Street. Aliss Beatrice Dust, of Sydney’, is also a guest of Airs. Royle for the Christmas and New Year holidays, which will be spent mainly at Day’s Bay.

Miss Ethne Paltridge has left Gisborne for Wellington, en route to Sydney. where she will be furthering her study of the art of dancing. She, will be under the tuition of Aliss Minnie Hooper, one of the best-known teachers in -Sydney.

Aliss Chennells, Woodford House School, ' Hastings, is spending the school vacation at Airs. W. B. Shenuells’, Alasterton.

The wedding took place at St. George’s Church, Epsom, Auckland, resently, of Aliss Alice Smalley, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. A. E. Smalley, of- Epsom, to Air. Francis McWilliam, second son of Mr. and Mrs. , A. McWilliam ’ of Wellington. The bride, who entered the prettily decorated church on the arm of her father, wore a frock of cream georgette over silver lace, with pearl trimmings. The long veil was caught with orange blossoms, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet in flowers of cream and pale pink. Miss Lilian Smalley was bridesmaid, and wore a frock of apple green taffeta and georgette, with a large cream crinoline hat finished with flowers to tone. She carried a bouquet in shades of apricot.. Air. Quentin McWilliam acted as best man. After the ceremony the reception was held at “Sidcot,” where Mrs Smalley received her guests wearing a frock of navy marocain with a hat of fawn crinoline straw. She carried a posy in autumn tints. Mrs. McWilliam had on a navy blue and fawn ensemble suit and a black hat. , The Rev. Litt officiated.

Air. and Airs. L. Mills, of Hataitai, left yesterday for Auckland by motor, and will spend the Christmas and New Year holidays in Auckland city and district.

Air. and Airs. J. F. Woodward, of Hataitai, aie among those who during the week-end left for Auckland by motor. They intend to proceed north by the one route and return by the other, returning early in the New Year.

A quiet wedding was celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Wellington, on December 18, when Eleanor Agnes Peck, eldest daughter of Afr. and Airs. W. L. Peck, of Christchurch, was married.to Walter Norman Lee, third son of Air. and Airs. Lee, of Alasterton.

Deep regret is felt at the departure of Air. and Airs. A. Al. Thomson for Wellington at the end of this month, says a Gisborne paper. Air. Thomson is taking up his duties as, manager of the North End branch of the Bank of New Zealand at the beginning of the year.

Many will regret to learn of the serious illness of Airs. Alex. Burns, wife of the manager of the Christchurch “Press.”

The marriage was celebrated at the Kelburn Presbyterian Church recently of Ann Crawford, eldest daughter of Mr. and Airs. W. Stewart (of Wellington), and Harry, son of Air. and Airs W. Anderson (of Palmerston North* The ceremony was nerformod by tin Rev. J. Gibson Smith. The bride wore a frock of cream georgette and lace, the tulle veil, which was embroidered by the bride's mother, being arranged with snravs of orange blossom and forget-me-nots. Tli< bridal bouquet was of cream roses and lilies. The Misses Qneenie, Bervl, and Lorna Stewart were bridesmaids, and each wore a picturesque frock of georgette, in Iceland poppy shades, with large crinoline hats to tone, and carried bouquets of blue delphiniums and roses. Air. Ekstedt, of Palmerston North, was best man. Manv relatives and old friends were afterwards entertained at the home of the bride’s parents at Kelburn. Mrs, Stewart receiving the guests, and wearing a frock of bois de rose crepe de chine, with a black hat, and'carrying a bouquet to tone. Later Mr. and Airs. Anderson left for a motor tour, the bride wearing an ensemble suit of blue, with a hat to match.

A wedding of considerable interest was celebrated at St. Alary’s Church, Karori, on Friday last (Christmas Eve) when Eleanor Mavis, the second daughter of Mr. and Airs. Arthur Glover of Wilton Road, Northland, was married to Air. Clunie Harris, eldest son of Airs. S. B. Harris, of Westminster Street, Christchurch, in the presence of a large number of friends. The Rev. G. Y. Woodward officiated, and Dr. Platts-Alills presided at the organ, playing the Wedding Alarch from “Lohengrin” (Wagner) as a recessional. The little church, gay with its Christmas decorations, looked charming, a special decorative feature being the artistic use 'of large clusters of Christmas lilies. The bride, who was given awav by her father, wore _ a French frdek of biege georgette, with an overdress of fine lace. Her hat was a cyclamen crinoline figured with shaded orchids. She carried a bouquet to match. Aliss Audrey Glover, sister of the bride attended h’s bridesmaid, wearing a biege georgette frock, with a rose-coloured crinoline hat, with bouquet to tone. The bride’s mother wore a dress of black silk voile, with a mauve hat, and bouquet to.match. Mr Allen Townsend attended the bridegroom. After the ceremonv a reception was held at the family residence, among those present being Airs Neil Galbraith, of Dunedin (aunt of the bride), Aliss Peggy Galbraith,. Miss Naida Glover (sisteri. Air. and Airs. Robert Scott. Airs. E. Leese, Miss Ailsa AlcDonald, Airs. L. Picot. Airs. E. Picot, Aliases Plimmer (cousins of the bride), and Miss Allison Gibson-Smith. The newlv-married couple left for the south the same evening. On their return they will reside at Karori.’
