During the last few days thousands of applications have been received by the Electricity Commission for exemption from the restrictions. Many bakeries and other places where food is prepared will be seriously affected. It is understood that in some cases an attempt will be made to make up for loss of output on days when the current is cut off, by working overtime on •.lavs when the current is available. Definite arrangements have been made to close a number of factories till the trouble is over. Employees have been informed that their services will not be required till further notice. Several thousand men are already affected.
