NEW INVISIBLE RAY
ENABLING HUMAN EYE TO SEE IN DARKNESS MORE PENETRATIVE THAN SEARCHLIGHT BEAM London, December 16. The “Daily Mail” states that pictures of persons moving in total darkness have been successfully transmitted bv wireless by Mr. Baird, the inventor of tiie “Televisor,” by means of an invisible ray. Hitherto the transmission of wireless motion pictures has been dependent upon the use of intensely bright light, sufficient almost to blind the photographed person. Now Air. Baird lias invented an amazing “new invisible ray,” which enables • the human eye actually to see in darkness. The invention, says Urn “Mail,” opens up wartime possibilities which it is impossible to estimate. Darkness may no longer give security, because it may become feasible to follow the enemy's movement when he believes himself unobservable. Mr. Baird says that tlie invisible ray is more penetrative, and can be thrown further than an ordinary searchlight beam, and will penetrate fog to a larger extent than any other, and therefore it lias great significance commercially in the navigation of ships ami aeroplanes, and (lie operation of trains.—Svdnev “Sun” Cable.
