STEAMER AGROUND
IN PORT KEMBLA SITUATION PRECARIOUS ' Sydney, December 17. When the 8000-ton' steamer Woodara was entering Port Kenibla to take in banker coal and making fast to the ,'jetty, owing to a high wind the inoorjng lines carried awav. She drifted from the jetty and before sufficient way could be got 011 her, she grounded bow on. She' gradually swung round 'till parallel -with the beach and became hard and fast. ■ The Woodara is in a precarious situation, heavy seas breaking against her. iShe is in an exposed position. At high tide there is onlv, ten feet of water at the. spot, and when the water recedes ithc vessel will be practically high and firy. The crew are not in dancer, and ■art,still aboard tlie Woodara. The vesjsel was just completing her voyage Liverpool and had only 500 tons »f cargo aboard. Two powerful tugs jrvere immediately dispatched from Sydney, and an attempt to refloat her will he made without delay. Heavy weather 5s prevailing.
