THE CROSS-OVER RULE INTERFERENCE BY DRIVERS. By Telegraph.—press association. Christchurch, December 17. A meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Board to-day discussed interference by drivers caused through not observing the rule that a horse may not cross over to the rails unless two lengths clear of the next horse. Several [members remarked that it wa3 a difficult- thing sometimes to determine what was exactly two lengths. The board endorsed the action of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club in fining J Bryce £l5 for such an offence in the New ’ Zealand Trotting Cup. The chairman reported that Peter Rivers alias Percv Davidson, who was disqualified for life by the New Zealand Trotting Association for corrupt practices, had been convicted and. sentenced to three years’ gaol in Melbourne . for similar practices.
