ELECTRIC LIGHT SPORTS

ROSE AND LEADBETTER APPEARING. R. A. Rose (New Zealand’s champion distance runner) and M. Leadbetter (New Zealand champion sprinter) will be two special attractions at the electric light sports meeting at the Basin Reserve this evening. This will be Rose’s first appearance in Wellington since his return from his English and Continental tour. Leadbetter will appear in the sprint event, and is expected to fight out a great finish with C. H. Jenkins. Roth runners are in excellent form, and have both been credited recently with running 100 yards in lOsec. Other events that are creating considerable interest are the two miles scratch cycle race and a special race over 440 yards between W. Kyle (New Zealand champion) and the Wellington ladies’ relay team. There is a fine supporting programme, comprising cycling, running, and other events, providing a very interesting evening’s sport. A band will be in attendance.
