Mrs. W. P. Johnston, of Hastings, is on a visit to Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Jacobsen are returning to Wellington by the Makura on Monday, from a trip to Honolulu and tile United States.

Mrs. and Miss Avery, Hipango Terrace, Wanganui, have gone to Rotorua for the Christmas holidays.

Mrs. Dudley, of Lower Hutt, and her small son spent a few days last week with Mrs. H. E. Beamish, Hastings.

Miss Dorothy Pearson, of Gisborne, will spend Christmas in Wellington.

At St. Paul’s Church. Paraparaunitt, on November 17, Gwendoline, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Agustin Harris, of Havelock, late of Paraparaumu. was married to John Mairs, of Para- 1 paraumu. The ceremony was performed bv the Rev. H. Wilson, and the Wedding March was played by Mrs. McAmilty. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white crepe de chine and Nottingham lace. Her embroidered veil was arranged coronet stvle and formed a long train. She carried a bouquet of white rosesi carnations, sweetpeas, and maidenhair fern, from which hung tulle streamers. Miss Winnie Mairs, sister of the bridegroom, acted as chief bridesmaid, wearing a frock of mauve crepe de chine with ruched ribbons to tone, and a crinoline hat to match, her bouquet being of mauve and maize coloured sweetpeas and maidenhair feru, finished with maize-coloured streamer?. Miss Doris Hodgson also attended as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of maizecoloured crepe de chine, trimmed with mauve and blue petal flowers, and a maize-coloured crepe de chine hat with trimmings and streamers to tone with her frock She carried a crook, mounted with a posy and mauve streamers. Little Joan Moon was train-bearer, wearing a pretty white lace (rock, finished with pale’ pink and blue posies and streamers, and a hit of pale pink crepe de chine, with pale blue and pink trimmings and streamers io tone. Mr. Harold Walker, of Auckland, acted as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a silver manicure set, and the bride’s present to the bridegroom a travelling bag. The bridesmaids were the recipients of gold armlets Many gifts, _ including several cheques, were received, also numerous congratulatory telegrams. After the ceremony a reception was held at Waimarie, where some sixty guests were received bv Mr. and Mrs. Harris. Jbe latter was attired in a cinnamon brown ensemble suit and hat to match, lhe newlv-married couple left by car amid showere of confetti for. their honeymoon. On their return Mr. and Mrs. John Mairs will take up residence in Paraparaumu.
