COMPOSITOR’S SUICIDE
SHOT HIMSELF IN HEAD. Dominion Special. Auckland, December 17. The body of William Palfrev Camp, married (aged 42), who resided at 80 Jervois Road, Ponsonby, was yesterday found lying in some scrub at Maraetai, about half a mile from the beach. There was a double barrelled gun lying between his legs, with its muzzle pointing towards his head. The Coroner this morning held an inquest at which he returned a verdict of suicide. Constable Kennedy, of Howick, stated that the shot entered the mouth of deceased and passed out at the back of the head. He left a note stating that he had domestic worries and was about to commit suicide. The widow of deceased stated that he was a compositor and that he left for work as usual on Wednesday morning. She had since ascertained that he left work at noon and went to Maraetai, where he was accustomed to spend week ends. He kept his gun there. He had met with an accident to his spine when 16, and as a consequence was of a moody disposition.
