FARMERS’ CLAIMS ON RIVER BOARD Dominion Special. Christchurch, December 17. Farmers who have suffered heavy losses as the result of the flooding of their laud during tho recent Hoods in the Waiinakariri have forwarded claims amounting in all to £llOO to the Wainiakariri River Trust, basing their claims on the allegation that the construction by the trust of stop banks and other protective works has diverted the flood waters on to their land. It is understood that leal proceedings are contemplated under the Wainiakariri River Trust Act, which provides that no ponding of water shall take place in, the lower reaches of Courts Island.
