SYNTHETIC AMBER
DUNEDIN CHEMIST’S DISCOVERY Dominion Special. Dunedin, December 16. The information. published some weeks ago, to the effect that a Dunedin research chemist had found a wav to remove tar and other stains from wool, lias aroused widespread inquiries, some from Australia, and the Agricultural Department is now in communication with the chemist, whose name need not be further withheld. 'He -is Mr. Robert Coghill, of George Street. Another subject of' research has in the meanwhile occupied Mr. Coghill’s attention, namely, the making of synthetic amber, and there . has been exhibited a sample of what 'S claimed to be the first synthetic amber producer! in New Zealand. This article is in steady demand for pipe stems, studs, atid a hundred other purposes. The sample is very bright, and, by chance, it has a flv in it, or part of a flv.
The District High School, Martinborougli, have lodged a claim with the Education Department for the registration of navy blue and scarlet as their school colours.
