LYTTELTON SANDERS CUP TRIAL Dominion Special, Christchurch, December 11. The first trial to select Canterbury’s representative for the Sanders Cup contest was held this afternoon. The competitors were Betty (G. Andrews). Usher (F. Collins). Linnet IT. (R. Sinclair). Magpie (W. Pascoe), and Tona (A. Henderson). There was a.sfrong northerly wind throughout the trial. Betty, from the start, took the lead and maintained it until the end. Tona cansized in the first round off Rina TsInnd. Usher and Linnet H. stuck together. During the race. Bettv finished, first, with'a. lead of smi'i. ■msec. Usher was second and Linnet TT. third. WINIFRED TO REPRESENT OTAGO BY TEUEGEAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. Dunedin, December 11. Winifred won the sixth Sanders Cup trial on Saturday, easily defeating her qnlv opponent, Heather. Wind blew from nil. points of the compass, from a fresh breeze to heavy squalls. Winifred has now decisively won five cut of (he six trials, and will represent Otago in the cup races.
