As the tram was travelling at a fair pace, and the lorry was heavily laden with wool, the impact was severe, ine force of the collision crumpled the apron of the tram and shattered the wind screen. Roberts escaped with a bruised thigh. He was treated in the casualtv ward and then went home. When an effort was made to remove the tram it was found that the wheels had become locked and the gears put out ot action. It was necessary to shunt the tram into Customs Street West to get it out of the way, and this manoeuvre was responsible for the interruption to the service. The lorry was fairly extensively damaged.
