OVERSEA STEAMER DAMAGED

COLLISION WITH WHARF. r Dominion Special. Auckland, December 12. When the Lamb steamer Omana, from Tauranga,- was aproaching Central Wharf to. her th shortly after 8 o’clock this morning, she collided end-on to the wharf. The impact was very severe, and considerable damage was done to "the stem of the steamer, two plates on the bow being smashed and fifteen feet of the stem and plates connected being bent. The. stem of the. steamer was, driven about four feet into the thick concrete of the wharf. The Omana was to have sailed for Opua to-morrow to complete loading, but she will have to be docked and repaired.
