ANTARCTIC WHALING
FIRST CATCH MADE. The Marine Department has been advised by the captain of the Sir Janies Clark Ross, the factory ship of the expedition now proceeding to the Antarctic for the summer whaling season, that the vessel cleared the pack ice on Friday night, and the first whale was taken on Saturday. The report added that everything with the expedition was "OK.”
