TOWN AND COUNTRY. Miss Colbeck, who has been staying with Miss M. Sim, of Palmerston North, has returned to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. R. Jackson, of Wanganui, are at present visiting Auckland. Mrs. R. E. Hewat has returned to Palmerston North after a holiday spent in Hawke’s Bay. Mr. and Mrs. T. Shannon, of Feilding, are visiting Wanganui. Dr. H. Barnicoat and Mrs. Barnicoat were visitors to'Palmerston North last week.
Mrs. G. Pettigrew, of Wanganui, has been staying with her mother, Mrs. Mcßeth, of Marton. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Bates and Mt. and Mrs. C. Ross, of Wanganui,-’ are at present in Sydney on their way back from England. On a recent evening Mrs. A. F. FitzHerbert, of Hokowhitu, gave a small partv to celebrate the coming of age of tier daughter Nell. A verv prettv wedding took place at St. Simon and St. Jude’s Church, at Rongotea, on Wednesday, when Mary Gibson Patterson Kerr, eldest daughter of Mr. James Patterson Kerr, of .Glasgow, was married to James Dempster Aird, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Aird, of Rongotea, and formerly of Glasgow. The Rev. G. T. Brown, of Palmerston North, assisted by Mr. J. N Wilson, performed the marriage ceremony, while Miss M. Davison presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of Mr. L. Milles,’ wore gracefully a white georgette frock trimmed with silver beads, and the customary veil and orange blossoms The bride was attended bv Miss W. Aird. cousin of the bridegroom, who was attired in a .white crepe de chine frock, with large black hat. Little Miss Betty Aird, sister of the bridegroom, had on a blue taffeta frock trimmed with rosebuds, and hat to match. Mr. C Cowan, of Rongotea, was best man A reception, at which a large number of guests were present, was afterwards held at Freeman's tearooms, Palmerston North.
The engagement is announced of Marjorie Goldingham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, F. S. Goldingham, of Palmerston North, to Mr. J Hope Johnston, of Marton, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Johnston, of Palmerston North.
