DRAMATIC RECITAL

MR. CULFORD BELL’S PUPILS An excellent performance was given by the pupils of Air. Culford Bell at their annual dramatic recital in the concert chamber on Saturady night, the audience being large, and appreciative. In the children’s play "Princess Tenderheart," the parts were taken by Pat Kerr, Marjorie Hill, Nathaline Pollock, Ken Alabin, Joyce Graham, Joan Sowman, and Hugh Janson, and the work of the youthful actors and actresses showed evidence of careful study and training. In this play the dresses were artistic and appropriate. In the humorous piece “Parsimonia," principals were Lily Charles, Doreen Saunders, Jeane Coker, Marjorie Hill, Agnes Darrell, Nellie Burns, and Hugh Janson; all entered into the spirit of the play and there was no lack of humour. A feature was a well-rendered song by Lily Charles, who took the part of King Richard. A one-act play entitled "A Joke,” was received with much merited applause; (he performers were Misses Joyce Jordan, Zita, Rowe, Sheila Franklin, and Gracie Kerr. There were several other enjoyable items. Mr. John Watchman achieved a pronounced success in his rendering of the Shakespearean selection "The Two Gravediggers"; while Mis sGracie Kerr in the Dickens sketch, "Miss Miggs,” which was given in character, was both effective and amusing. Miss Isa Saunders, in “The Yukon Trail," was heard to advantage; ami Mrs. Daisy Cooper gave an excellent recitation, “The House With Nobody in it.” Other performers who gave meritorious contributions to the programme were. Misses Lyndall, Anderson, Areta Wharton. Gladys Gunn, Feo Smyth, Kirk, Zena Jupp, and Mrs. Frances Norris. Mr. Eric North for his humorous skit, “Tho General Outlook,” was applauded.
