CALEDONIAN CARNIVAL
Another large crowd made its way to the Caledonian carnival at Kilbirnie last evening, where fun and frolic onoe more reigned supreme. AU the side-snows were well patronised, while the merry-go-round, ocean wave, et were were all in constant demand. The dance hall was weU filled all the time with happy couples, who enjoyed themselves by doing the Charleston, tango, waltz, one-step. etc. This afternoon there will be a children’s plain and fancy paper poster dance, for which prizes will be given, while a balloon race, which is being run in aid of the artillery queen funds, is also on the programme as an additional attraction for both this afternoon and evening. It is announced from now on there will be an excellent programme daily at the carnival, ainong the attractions being the brilliant lighting effects, tug-of-war contests and boxing tournaments. In connection with the latter, Jamito, Purdy, and McCarthy will be in attendance, and will give exhibition bouts. The Evans Bay Yacht Club regatta will be held, also a lifesaving display and some surf competitions. Chinese citizens will givo a special fireworks display and children’s pin in and fancy paper and poster dances will be held.
