PAHIATUA NOTES
Dominion Special. Pahiatua, December 1. An old resident of Masterton, Mrs. M. C. Madsen, passed away suddenly here on Sunday evening. The deceased lady, who was 71 years of age, had been on a visit to her son, Mr. A. S. Madsen. Her husband predeceased her some three years ago. The funeral takes place at Masterton to-day. The Mayor (Mr. J. D. C. Crewe) and Mr. A. W Hamilton are on a visit to Wellington. . , . , A Government instructor in agriculture, Mr. W. J. McCullough, has intimated his intention of paying another visit to the district during the next As a of the efforts of the president of the Pahiatua Chamber of Commerce (Mr. P. Tulloch), the Government Publicity Department is sending a kinematograph operator to the district to take a series of pictures of Pahiatua, Makuri Gorge, Carnival Park and other places of interest. The film will be afterwards screened by the Department in various parts of the world. The following is the draw tor the senior pairs’ bowling competition: Chatwin and Hewat v. Burrell and M'alsh; McSherry and F. Btitland v. Winstanley and' Prentice; A. Bissett and W. Britland v. Jennings and Ransom; Paterson and P. A. Bisset, a bye. The junior pairs’ draw resulted ns follows: Hodd and Hodgins v. Siddells and Bentlev; White and Russell v. Ryall and Groves; Herbert and Crewe v. Day and Stevenson. Junior and senior pairs: Hodd and W. Britland v. Ryall and McSherry; Moore and Paterson v. Lett and Britland; Crewe and Prentice v. Siddells and Burrell: Bentley and P. A. Bisset v. Groves and A. W. Bisset; White and Chatwin v. Day and Hewat; Campbell and Jennings v. Russell and Walsh. -The annual match for the Ruahine Pennants, between the Dannevirke. Eketahuna, Woodville and Pahiatua Clubs, will be played at Woodville to-day. The local club will be represented by two senior rinks and a similar number of junior rinks. There was a large attendance at the etiehre tournament held,, last night in aid of the Catholic Presbytery Fund. Prizes were won by Mrs. W. Rutherford and Mrs. J. O’Sullivan. The aggregate prizes for the season went to Mrs. P. J. Moran and Mr. J. O’Sullivan.
