IN A PARLOUS WAY
CONDITION OF CLYDE QUAY. What with the very wet weather and very heavy traffic, Clyde Quay, near where it joins Courtenay Place, is at present in a worse condition + han it has ever been, says a correspondent. Some three months ago this spacious square was prepared for hot-mix pavement, which was to have followed the completion of Wakefield Street, but the work was held up in connection with the proposed improvements to the Canal Reserve. Since then a great deal of traffic has passed over the loosened macadam, agid this, with the many rainstorms experienced in November, caused a succession of pot-holes that threaten to become a menace to motorists. who have now to slow down as they pass over the pot-holes until they reach the hot-mix track that leads to. Oriental Bay. There is no city area in such a parlous way as Clyde Quay, and none which needs attention more urgently at the present time.
