LATEST “MIRACLE”
STRANGE STORY INVENTED BY A GIRL.
Poland, the classic land of winking Madonnas and wonder-working Rabbis, has been enriched by a new miracle which is something out of the. ordinary, according to the Warsaw correspondent of the London “Observer.” The shepherdess of the village of Brudezewile, an eleven-year-old girl, announced that an angel had informed ■ her, speaking through the mouth of a sheep, of the whereabouts of a buried treasure. This must not, however, be dug iip before certain animals, which ho would indicate, had been killed and roasted. For some weeks the spirit indicated daily fowls, pigs, and at last, cows, which the peasants obediently slaughtered. and the whole village, including the prophetess, enjoyed an unaccustomed period of good feeding. When the flocks had boon greatly thinned out. search was made for the treasure. . .In her consequent interview . with the police, the girl stated that she had invented tho story because she was tired of always grazing flocks and never eating meat.
