ANOTHER STAGE IN THE “MISS WELLINGTON” CONTEST

FOUR FINALISTS AT GRAND OPERA HOUSE FIRST NIGHT’S VOTING. ft

Last evening the four finalists in the ‘‘Miss Wellington” section -of the Great "Miss New Zealand" Beauty Contest entered into a further stage of the competition. Each night now, until November 5, they will appear in the Beauty Pageant with the J. C. Williamson Vaudeville Company (N.Z. Entertainers, Ltd.), and the audiences will vote as to which they think most entitled to the honour of the title "Miss Wellington," the second in the polling being designated her Maid of Honour. On November 6 the result of the voting will be announced- The two selections will go to Auckland, and with the two finalists from Otago, Canterbury and Auckland, face the judges to learn which of their number is to be adjudged “Miss New Zealand.” The Beauty Pageant last evening excited the greatest interest amongst the audience (the story is told elsewhere in our notice of the performance), and at the close those present handed in their voting papers as they left the theatre. The count of votes was carried out by a special staff appointed' by "THE DOMINION,” in conjunction with N.Z. Entertainers, Ltd., and as the result of the first night’s poll, the order of the candidates is as follow:— MISS WILSON. MISS DICK. MISS EDWARDS. MISS McCUBBIN. The voting was close, and it would seem that there is going to be another exciting finish. Each of the four finalists for the "Miss Wellington” contest should not overlook the fact that Brickman’s, the toilet specialists, have offered to attend to their toilet free of charge prior to their appearance at the Grand Opera House. The offer of the Sydal Proprietary is to "Miss New Zealand," not to "Miss Wellington.” Messrs. Bond and Co.’s offer is one dozen pairs of Sylkarto hose for “Miss Wellington,” and one dozen pairs of Sylkarto and one dozen pairs of Du-o-Silk for "Miss New Zealand."
