DOMESTIC QUARREL
ANGRY HUSBAND STRIKES WIFE AND FRIEND “I’M KING OF THE CASTLE” Dominion Special. Auckland, October 27. According to what witnesses stated in the Magistrate’s Court, a hectic state of affairs prevailed for a time in the house of Louis Noel Stock, in Point Chevalier,! last evening. As a result of what happened, Stock found himself in the dock facing Mr. B. L. Cutten, S.M., on charges of having as saulted his wife by striking her on the face with his clenched fist, assaulting Arthur Leonard Higgins by kicking him on the face with his boot, and assaulting his brother, .Lnc, bv striking him on the .face with the same clenched fist. Accused pleaded not guiltv to all the charges. Evidence was given by his wife a« d others as to a quarrel which occurreConstable Spellman said that Mrs. Stock came .to him in a d ) s l res^ d state to complain about her husband s conduct. When witness went' with Her to the house he found that accused had locked his wife out. Stock, who was inside the house, called out to witness, “I’m king of the castle, and no one is going to come into, tne Accused was asked by the Magistrate to give his explanation of tne affair. He denied having struck anyone, and alleged that the charges were trumped up. f scatter, that’s all,” he said. Sergeant Calwell said that the police did not usually interfere in domestic quarrels, but when accused took up such an attitude something had to be done. - , On the first charge Stock was fined £5, in default seven days’ imprisonment. On the second he was convicted and discharged, while the third charge was dismissed.
