It is recorded that one farmer on the eastern side of the Blue Mountains m South Otago, with the aid of his sons, Shot 1000 head of deer last year—at all events, that was the number of tails he collected the reward of 2s. each on. A farmer at Raurima district' while going around his stock noticed a two-year-old cplt with something white in its mouth tossing it about playfully (says the Tiniarn “Herald”). On closer inspection the white object proved to be a lamb. On seeing the farmer approach the horse dropped its victim, and then snatching it in its teeth again carpered across the field. Needless to say the lamb was dead and the horse was promptly removed. \
