ACCIDENTALLY KILLED

CHINESE STRUCK BY TRAIN. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M. (Coroner), yes ; terday held an inquest on the body of Ngan Lie, a Chinese gardener, single (aged 66). of Otaki, who was admitted to the Wellington Hospital on October 22, suffering from a fractured skull and shock, and who died without recovering consciousness. Evidence was given that deceased was struck by a goods train in a tunnel near Paekakariki on Friday when walking on the line in the early morning. The Coroner said that deceased was an old man, and evidently not well acquainted with tlie different trains and their running. He had apparently left the Wellington train at Paekakariki and remained there till early in the morning, when he had set out in what he thought was the direction of Otaki.
