RUGBY IN ENGLAND
INTERNATIONAL BOARD RULES / TO BE ADOPTED IN ALL MATCHES London, October 24. The International Rugby Board’s Committee has resolved to' play all matches under International Board rules from November 13. It has called a meeting’ of the Imperial Rugby Conference for that date. POSITION COMPLICATED London, October 24. The "Daily News” explains that the International Board’s decision prevents English teams from playing Welsh sides unless the off-side rule is dropped, the decision being enforced after the Maoris’ Welsh matches have ended. If the Welsh Union adheres to the rules a split is inevitable. • Another complication is that the international rules allow more than three players in the front row of the scrum, which the English rules prohibit, England thus being in a difficult position.—Sydney “Sun” Cable. MAORIS’ MATCH AGAINST ■ SWANSEA PELHAM’S DAY. London, October 24. Reviewing the Maoris’ match against Swansea, the “Daily Mail” says that it was Pelham’s day. He played a magnificent. back game for the visitors, and faced very determined forward rushes courageously, running with speed and judgment, so that he completely won the hearts of the crowd with his spectacular wark. —Sydney “Sun” Cable.
