INQUEST ON MOTOR FATALITY
COLLISION FAULT OF BOTH DRIVERS Dominion Special. Christchurch, October 16. The inquest intp the circumstances of the death of Mrs. Catherine Quinn (aged 55) who was killed in a motor collision on September 15, was continued, this morning before Mr. Il A. Young (Coroner). Mrs Caroline Elizabeth Kean who was a passenger in the car driven by James Quinn, son of decensed, eave evidence that Quinn was driving very quietly down the left side of Salisbury Street. The car driven by Miss Busch with which the collision took place was coming down the middle of Madras Street at a faster rate than Quinn’s car. The other car, she said, seemed to gather speed and swerve right into their back wheel. Dr. P. Ardagh said Mrs. Quinn was obviously suffering from a fracture of the base of the skull and an operation was performed to try to relieve the pressure on the brain, ft was found that there was considerable haemorrhage. Death was due to a fracture nt the base of the skull and to haemorrhage. The Coroner’s verdict wa- that Mrs. Quinn had died from injuries received in n motor accident There had been a conflict of opinion in the evidence, Fneh driver hnd erred tn iu>l"ine the speed of the other car and its distance from the intersection The cars should have slowed down nnd hcen prepared to stop it necessary.
