A wireless message received at Brisreports the arrival of Captain Williams at Samarai.
Members of the House of Commons of all parties are indigant at the aspersions of Dr. Salter regarding the -inking habits of members, says _ a Svdnev “Sun” message. Thev point out that the bar returns offer the best answer. There has been recently a great decline in the consumption of liquor. A man entered a bank at Liverpool, held- un the staff with a revolver, ami when the cashier attempted to prevent him taking silver from a counter he fired. The cashier was seriously wounded and the thief dashed into the street, pursued bv the manager, calling “Stop thief!” A crowd joined in the chase and the thief fired point blank at two men, who were both wounded. A policeman who attempted to fell the thief with a baton was also wounded Eventually the man was arrested. Examination showed that only a few shillings had been stolen. Two of the men shot arc in a critical condition.
