DINING CARS OR DINING ROOMS
There is still a diversity of opinion as to whether the dining-car on trains, or the dining-rooms at stations, is the better system. The latter has been adopted in New Zealand after an extensive trial of the dining-cars, and the general opinion of present-day travellers by railway is believed to lie that, despite the disadvantage of the slightly prolonged journey owing to the wait at stations, tlie advantage afforded by the dining-rooms of having meals in comfort quite outweighs the slight gain in time obtained by the use of the dining-car. It may be mentioned that _ during their journev north, after arrival in New Zealand, Mr. Zane Grev’s partystated that the best meal they had had since landing in the Dominion was that obtained at the Marton Junction railway dining rooms
