POLICE CASES. Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt with _ the police cases in the Magistrate’s Court 1 e Angus 7 Black, alias Smith (aged 50), was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour on She charge of stealing a pair of boots valued at -£1 10s„ the property of lone \ Vuong. Accused who admitted a long list of previous convictions,- was said by Sub-Inspector Harvey, to have been twice declared an habitual criminal. William Orsby Fisher, a fitter (nged 53), was fined £2 in default seven days imprisonment for using obscene language. and similarly treated for a breach of his prohibition order. He was fined 16s. for an offence of drunkenness. Horace Samuel Mahony, n ships earpenter (ajred 24). who admitted stealing 20 fur skins valued at <£3. the property of the Shaw, Savill, anti Albion Co. Ltd., was remanded until this morning for sentence. . A remand until October 11. was pranrcd in the case of Robert Forbes Boicl. alias Goodman, alias Cameron, alias Carr, a farm manager (aged .33), who appeared on the charge of gaining, bv means of a valueless cheque for AU) iGs.. drawn on the Bank of New Zoa’•'nd. at Masterton. goods for that amount from George and Doughty Ltd.,
