BRIBERY CHARGES
NEW SOUTH WALES INQUIRY OPENED
(Jlec. October I, 11.25 p.m.) Sydney, October 1. The Select Committee appointed by Parliament to inquire into the bribery charges has commenced its sittings. Mr. Parley, who is prominently connected with the Labour movement, gave evidence that he had been approached bv Mr. Farrar, a member of the Upper House, who suggested to him that if a certain number of members of the Labour Party could be bribed before the passage of the Workers’ Compensation Act, it would be worth his (Parley’s) while and the Nationalist Tarty would find all the monev necessary to bribe members. Earley alleged that he told Farrar later that he had approached four members, but admitted to the chairman of the 'committee that he had not told the truth in saving this. Farley alleged that li esubsequently told Mr Lang of Farrar’s offer, and the Premier said that he had thought for a long time that something of the kind was going on.
