Tiie death occurred in Wellington on Thursday of Mr. \\. J- (“Brassy’ ) White, well known in local athletic circles for many years. The late Mr. White took a very keen interest in sport. In tlie early' days he was a member of the Melrose Football dub, but later transferred to the Poneke Club, and was a member of the teams in which Ujlison, Gage, and W. Roberts also plavcd. Until this season he was closely associated with the Poneke Club, although at one period he was connected with the Marist Club. The late Mr. White was one of the early secretaries of the Poneke Chib, and gave valuable assistance in the matter of coaching. He was a good hooker at his best, and represented Wellington at Rugby. The late Mr. White was 56 years of age.
David Allan Burgess was committed for trial on a charge of murdering Reginald Riddle, aged seventeen, who was shot fatallv in a street at Annadale. New South Wales, on September IA, ss the orrteome of gang giwwreis.
