FIGURES FOR SEPTEMBER
The September returns of vital-sta-tistics for Wellington city show a decrease in deaths and marriages, but a small increase in births, when compared with the corresponding period of last vear. The deaths for the quarter ending September. 1926, are 37 in excess of those for the third quarter of 1925, when 312 deaths were' recorded. There is, however, httle difference in the birth . and marriage figy tires for the two periods. The figures for September, as, supplied by the Registrar, are as follow: —

AUCKLAND'S INCREASE. Dominion Special. Auckland, September 30. A natural increase of 1305 in the population of Auckland has taken place during the nine months of the: year which ended to-day, births having exceeded deaths by that number. Tn the. corresponding period of last year the increase was 1222. The births this year number 2702 and deaths 1397. , There have been 72 more marriages this year than last, the totals being 1595 and 1523 respectivelv. Marriages by the registrar, however, were not so popular, the number being 397 this year and 437 last year. .
