The Postmaster-General (Hon. W. Nosworthy) returned to Wellington from the'south yesterday

The Minister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. Hawken) will leave on Monday for Hastings to inspect the fruit-grow-ing areas and confer with the local Fruitgrowers’ Association Returning to Wellington on Friday morning, the Minister will leave in the evening lor Auckland on a similar visit. The Hon W. Nosworthv (Postmas-ter-General) arrived from the south yesterday morning.

The Hon. L. M. Isitt. M.L.C., is at present in Wellington. Sir George Elliot, chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand,, aifived in Wellington from Auckland yesterday.

Mr P. Ilallev, Conciliation Commissioner, left for Auckland last night, and will return to Wellington on Monday morning.

Air. \V Recce, of Christchurch, is visiting .Wellington. Air. L.' B. Beale (His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner) left .Wellington last night on an official visit to Auckland. Fisher, bon.- secretary of the Dominion Executive of St. John, from the Governor-General, intimating that His Excellency has received the insignia of a Knight of Grace of the Venerable" Order of St. John of Jerusalem, which was recently conferred on Mr Fisher, with the sanction of His Majesty the King, for valuable war services in England. This honour has been bestowed on Air Fisher for gratuitous Red Cro-s work in the Homeland, when on the outbreak of the Great War be was appointed Registrar of the Military Home Hospital Reserves and Roval Naval Auxiliary Sick Berth Reserve, under the joint war cdnmiittcc of the Order of St. John- and the British Red Cross Society. 'Mr.-Fisher is'the eighth New Zealander to be raised to the dignitv of knightl’god in this ancient Crusader Order of Chivalrv. instituted by the Sovereign Pontiff Pascal H in 1218. His sponsors were Sir Avlmer Gould Hunter-Weston, K.C.8., AT I’., and Colonel L T. Woolrvch Perowne, Knirdits of Justice of the Venerable order of St.' John of Jerusalem The (Irder of St John is older than either file Order of the Golden Fleece .of Simin or the Order ,of the Garter of England, and its. roll contains ma.tiv members of the Roval Family, with His Majesty the King as Sovereign head and patron.
