BIG MARKET W'AITING AT HOME. “In England there is a wonderful market for apples," said Mr. G. H. Scott, president of the New Zealand Association of British Manufacturers and Agents, at a gathering in liis honour yesterday. "T wanted 20 cases of apples to distribute in the Midlands,” said Mr. Scott. "I purchased them at 12s. (id. a case. A few days later I found I wanted some more, and I had to pay Bd. a pound in Birmingham for similar apples.” Continuing. Mr. Scott said England produced 24.8 per cent, of its apples, therefore 75.2 per cent, were imported. Canada supplied 18.9 per cent., Australia 7.3, and New Zealand 0.7. Now, he said, there was something radically wrong with New Zealand’s position, especially when there was a glut on the market here la't, month. "There is a tremendous market awaiting Now Zealand's apples at Homo, and why w?> don’t, export more than we do at present I don’t know,” ho concluded.
