ROTARY CONVENTION
MR. H. AMOS WELCOMED HOME Mr, 11. Amos had not nearly enough time at bis disposal at the club luncheon yesterday to say all he wanted to about his trip abroad, which ended with the arrival of the Tahiti at Wellington on Monday. As well as attending the seventeenth annual convention of Rotary International at Denver, Colorado, the Pan-Pacific Conference of Rotary Clubs at Honolulu, and the council meeting of Rotary International at Chicago he was at Rotary luncheons in Philadelphia, New York (several), Montreal, Buffalo, Vancouver, Portland, Oakland, Hollywood, Glendale, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and two diffcrsent Kansas cities. He visited twelve leading universities,' many colleges, commercial and primary schools, chambers of commerce, athletic clubs, and Boy Scout associations He saw the Amateur Athletic Union championship meeting at Philadelphia, the lightweight boxing championship of the world (Berlenback and Delaney) and the training camps of Dempsey and Tunney. Last, but not least, he had the honour of meeting President Coolidge at Wasington. At the convention of Denver—of which he gave his fellow Rotarians some brief impressions—he had had the society of leaders of industries and professions and Blackfeet from Glacier Park, of men who came in special trains and men who came in Mexican sombreros, of Bov Scouts, Girl Guides, and Pueblo cowboys. The welcome and the hospitality were wonderful. Not only the Rotarians, but the people of Denver did all thev could to give the visitors a good time—some of the shopkeepers even refused to take money for the goods thev sold. “I had a marvellous time,’’ said Mr. Amos. “I enjoyed every minute. Vet 1 cnicved far more the sight of Wellinrrton’s walls and the faces of mv Rotarian friends when I got back once more to my own home country.”
