HOOLIGANISM IN RUSSIA
* streets unsafe after dark. Riga, September 21. Hooliganism throughout Russia is growing to such an extent that even in Moscow and Leningrad the streets are unsafe after dark. Many assaults on girls and other brutalities are reported. Workmen's clubs are organising vigilance societies, with unofficial safety patrols. The authorities, as the result of -clamorous demands for protection, have announced that they are determined to wipe out the evil and have threatened summarily to shoot of-fenders.—-Sydney "Sun” Cable.
