PAID HONORARY OFFICERS

DEPARTURE IN HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION Bf Telegbaph.—Press association. Auckland, September 22. An important departure in Public Hospital administration in Auckland, the payment of two members of the honorary staff engaged in special duties, has been made by the Hospital Board, on the recommendation of the finance committee. It was decided to appoint Dr. Neil McDougall senior honorary radiologist at the hospital, with an honorarium of £5OO a year; and Dr. Bruce MacKenzie assistant honorary radiologist, with an honorium of £250 a vear. It was also decided to appoint 'a second honorary assistant in the department. A suggestion that a scale of fees should be charged to patients undergoing treatment in the radiologist s department of the hospital, and that a salary should be paid to the radiologist, was made to the board in June by Dr. B. MacKenzie, who was then relieving Dr. McDougall as honorary radiologist, while the latter was in Australia. He considered that the radiologist at the hospital should be compensated in some measure, and suggested that a salary of between £6OO and £7OO a year should be paid. Consideration of the matter was deferred pending the return - of Dr. McDougall, and later it was referred to the finance committee for a recommendation.
