BOWLS
SOME CLUB OPENINGS. As the end of September draws near bowlers. begin to think of level greens and the pleasures of their favourite game. The weather conditions have been particularly favourable during the winter and spring, so there is no excuse for poor greens this coming season. From all accounts they are _ looking very well indeed, and even in cases where they broke down early last season, there is hope for much better things this year. . As usual, the Eastbourne Club .is first in the field. It has been decided to open its green on Saturday next. This pretty little green with its pleasant background of natural bush is looking in the very pink of condition, and as it is a green which is as a rule better before Christmas than after, the members are anxious to commence ptay. On Saturday; October 2, the Karon Club will open its green, and the Hataitai. Kelburn. Newtown, Thorndon, and probably the Victoria. Club, will open on October 9. It will probably be October 15 before the Wellington Club’s opening. . , The Victoria Club is to give a ladies night at the pavilion on September 29.
