Suing Jack Dempsey for money which he alleges to be due under the terms of a contract in force in the last three years, his ex-manager, Jack Kearns, on Tuesday secured an attachment of Dempsey’s share of the purse in the Tunney fight on Thursday. The promoter, Tex Rickard, has been named as garnishee, and bail to secure Dempsey’s assets has been fixed at 600,000 dollars. Rickard says he is prepared to cover bonds to the extent of a million dollars if necessary in order to prevent any court action interfering or holding up the fight.
