MOTHER INJURED FIGHTING FLAMES. By Telegraph.—Press association. Christchurch, September 3. While standing with her back to a fire, the clothing worn by the little daughter of Mr. James McCann, of Leeston, caught fire. Tho girl rushed out to her mother, and Mrs. McCann ‘ought hard to smother the flames, suffering severe burns on both hands. The girl’s father happened to be in the yard>, and quickly extinguished ths fire on the girl’s clothing, but not before her shoulders and back had been badly burned.
