DANUBE OVERFLOWS
EXTENSIVE AREAS FLOODED MANY HOUSES DESTROYED IN JUGO-SLAVIA (Rec. August 16, 7.20 p.m.) Bucharest, August 15. Most extensive floods have occurred owing to the overflowing of the Danube in the Galatz and Transylvanian districts. Red Cross workers from Jugoslavia report that over a thousand houses have been destroyed The floods were due to the breakdown of the general conservancy, which the Hungarian and Jugo-Slavian Governments are endeavouring to revive.—Aus.-N.Z.
