CROQUET
N-rW CLUB AT FEATHERSTON. Further progress in croquet has been made in the Wairarapa by the formation ot another club in Featherston. It has chosen for its title the word “Haunui,” which is most appropriate to the district, meaning, as it does, “big wind,” for which Featherston is noted. The office-bearers are: Patroness, Mrs. W. Riddiford; president, Miss E. Card; vice-presidents, Mesdames Ball and Carlyon; lion, secretary, Dlrs. E. M. Wakely; lion, treasurer, Mrs. R. Simpson; club captain, Mrs. E. Barry; committee, Mesdames Adamson, Ritchie, and Lutbury; auditor, Mr. Nicol. The club’s tender for the Featherston municipal lawns, having been accepted bv the council, they will occupy them, and the pavilion thereon. Arrangements are well in hand for the opening ceremonies, for which invitations are being sent out. With siich an enthusiastic committee, the coming season is expected to be most successful, as some of the best players in the Wairarapa are members of the Haunui Club.
