STOLE DIAMOND RINGS
MAN IMPRISONED. “This man stole the rings in such a way that the suspicion would fall upon two others,” remarked Chief Detective Ward in the Magistrate s Court yesterday, when referring to M alter Stanley Bean Wilson, a butcher (aged 36), who appeared on a charge of stealing a d'amond ring and a diamond and sapphi ring valued at £29 10s., the property of Margaret Maloney. ~ Continuing the Chief Detective said that accused was stopping at the Jiousa and stole the rings from his niece, lie took them during a party a n d then blamed two other people. Recently he pawned one of the rings for thirty snil-lings-and gave the other to a female acquaintance. “He has been in trouble before,” added the ChieLDetective, ing two previous convictions recorded against him for theft.” In convicting Wilson. Mr. E. Page. S.M., stated that, the theft w_as_ not a very creditab'e episode as suspicion had been placed on others. Accused was sentenced io six months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
