A novel method of rendering constables on point duty conspicuous at night is under trial in Broadway, Newmarket (says the "N.Z. Herald”). A powerful electric light is suspended abovJ yhe point. It casts a beam which illuminates a circular patch, in tie centre of which the constable stands. From outside the circle of brilliance the constable's signalc are interpreted with the greatest ease.
