PROHIBITION OF FRESH CONTINENTAL MEAT. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received a report from its London manager regarding the embargo recently announced by the Imperial Government on all fresh meat from the Continent of Europe. , currences a have “definitely "established one on e o r^d-= s « into Great Britain, and after wveful consideration the Government has that, there is no alternative but to n hibit the importation of carcasses from tho Continent as the only means of pre venting this risk. An order has accordinfflv been made by th© Minister of Ag culture in pursuance of . hlß , p . oWC [RQ4 ln ln the Diseases of Animals Act, en titled the Importation of Carcasses (Prohibition) Order of 1926. Tho order will take immediate effect, but provision io made whereby its provisions do not nnnl to cargoes shipped before midnight on Juno 3-4. 1926.” . . , This order prohibits tho landing in Great Britain of a carcass or part o a. carcass as defined in the order, .brougli. from any country ou the Continent ol Europe (other than Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man). Tho only exceptions from this prohibition are: (a) Fully cured bacon and bam, lard, or rendeied fat, cooked or -reserved meats, or meat essences; and (b) hides and skins which have been dried, dry-salted, or wet-salted. In tho case of wet-salted hides or skins, they must be accompanied by a certificate to the effect that they have been websalted lor a. period of fourteen days The term "carcass”
for tho purpose of this order means the carcass of any cattle, sheen pigs, or goats, and includes meat hides, skins, hair, bones, bonemeal, hoofs, hoofmeal, horns, hornmeal, offal, blood, dried blood, and blood meal, or any other part of a carcass separately or otherwise, or any portion thereof.
