PRAYER BOOK REVISION

NO STRIFE AMONG BISHOPS. (Rec. July 8, 8.10 p.m.) London, July 8. The Bishop of Canterbury, speaking at a banquet to bishops at the Mansion House, referred to “baseless inventions” that the bishops had been in strife over revision of the prayer book. He said that some newspapers had published' articles on a supposed strike of bishops at Lambeth, with hints that a large schism was pending. “I met a friend,” lie continued, "who said sympathetically, ‘I suppose it’s a great exaggeration.’ ‘No,’ I replied, ‘it’s a baseless, barefacctl invention.’ I do not mean that there is complete harmonv of opinion on every point, but Hie bishops pull together on these matters.” . lie also said that within reasonable time a group of suggestions would be presented which would commend themselves to religious people throughout the land.—Ar.s.-N.Z.
